"la Caixa” Banking Foundation celebrated the first ten years of this programme with a meeting at CaixaForum Madrid hosted by Jaume Giró, CEO of ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation; Marie-Ange Saraka-Yao, Managing Director of Resource Mobilisation and Private Sector Partnerships at Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance; and Nazira Abdula, Minister of Health of the Government of Mozambique
”la Caixa” Banking Foundation celebrates a decade implementing a child immunisation programme in areas of Africa and Latin America where access to healthcare is difficult, teaming up in this initiative with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and in cooperation with ISGlobal.

Since ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation joined the programme in 2008, more than 4.5 million children have received pentavalent and pneumococcal vaccines thanks to investment of more than 25 million euros raised from donations made by Caixabank partner companies, customers and employees, and micro-donations by ordinary citizens.

The Vaccine Alliance implements a pioneering formula to promote corporate social responsibility in Spain: ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation multiply the value of each donation received by four, thereby quadrupling efforts to combat child mortality.
